I am finally in the process of buying a Xbox 360 or a Playstation 3. I have researched and researched. I thought since you are all about the game and the gaming experience. I felt this would be a great place to get some great feedback on the best console. So my question is this. Which one and why.
PS3 or 360.
PS3 or 360.

I hate microsoft with a passion, although I loved the Xbox, but when that whole "red ring of death" thing that happened with the original 360 where it would stop working, and then microsoft did absolutely nothing to fix the problem, and they knew exactly what it was, turned me off from them for good.
If it were me, I'd be getting the Playstation 3.
seriously, i use the PS3 just for blu-ray these days. almost every time i turn it on, there's a new update. most of the time i ignore them, but every once in a while it says i can't do anything without updating...not a damn thing. i can't play a blu-ray, i can't change settings, i can't play a game, i can't do anything without updating. so, just when i think i'm about to watch a movie with my wife, i have to wait 30 minutes for it to download the update and install it. also, the update UI is horrible. it took me 2 minutes the first time just to figure out how to accept the user agreement.
also they use blu-ray discs which allow for better graphics and longer games because they aren't stuck using 4.7gb dvd discs (like xbox) instead they can use large blu-ray (im not sure if they updated the firmware to support 200gb blu-ray discs) but they for sure support 50gb blu-ray discs.
ps3 has free online, unlike xbox which you have to pay $60 a year.
ps3 doubles as a blu-ray player.
ps3 was hacked but is now secured again so you don't have to worry about hackers on any games like Call of Duty. While the xbox 360 is just swarmed with hackers using something called Jtag so have fun trying to play Call of Duty with all the hackers using aim bot and god mode.
ps3 has some great exclusives, xbox does too but I prefer the ps3 exclusives.. oh except one! xbox has a really cool game called Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts.
I have owned both consoles and I HIGHLY recommend the PS3. My xbox 360 over heated within 10 hours of game play (not all at once, that was just collectively). Microsoft was nice enough to send me a new refurbished one which also over heated! (and no my xbox wasn't in a closed cabinet or anything)
after that I got so mad I bought a gaming pc, which was no better! microsoft = hackers so all the PC games were also hacked. so I finally sold it and bought a PS3 Slim which I have had for over a year and still love it so much! If it broke I would buy another ps3.
also the PS3 has never given me trouble with over heating or anything, the discs aren't scratched up from the ps3 blu-ray drive (but the xbox 360 is known to scratch a ring into the xbox games! and a few of my friends have had that) and I have used it as a blu-ray player a couple times
buy what you want, but I think a PS3 is the way to go! Take this advice from someone who has had both the consoles.
its like linux is 100x better then windows but linux isn't as popular so soooo many people will tell you to go with windows.

If you asked this question a few years ago I would have said Xbox but now I would defiantly suggest PS3.
Both consoles have their exclusives Xbox's Big hitters are Halo, Gears of War and Fable. Fable 3 was disappointing, Halo has lost their developer and now is being developed by a unproven developer leaving Gears of War which I don't know much about as I never really enjoyed it.
The PS3's Big games would Be Uncharted, Killzone, Infamous and Little Big Planet. I haven't played all of them But I really enjoyed Uncharted and Little Big Planet. This year is the year of the Playstation with Infamous 2, LBP2, Resistance 2, Twisted Metal, Team Ico Collection, Killzone 3 and Uncharted 3.
but to be honest they are both great systems and either one you get you won't be disappointed.
So basically other than a couple little annoyances I'm all for PS3 its definitely a better system IMO.
My friends were at 60/40 split xbox to ps3 until recently when a lot switched to xbox and the ration is now 90/10. They told me it was because of the far superior online and choice of big hit games plus all the content is released earlier on xbox and kinect is considerably better than move.
If you are really into online gaming and you have a good connection so you wont just get wasted by host advantage (it's real don't try and deny it haha!). I'd go with the xbox, it's a better online experience and worth the money if you ask me.
If you don't so much care about the online thing though, go with the ps3. The Uncharted series is amazing and Little Big Planet makes me really happy.
If you buy Xbox 360 you will be glad you did not buy a Playstation.
