Giving up -- going back to xCode (?)

edited November -1 in Working with GS (Mac)
Ok, so I've tried GS for about a week now. The problem I have is getting help, especially on behaviors. The forum is great but links on inside posts are broken, the template actions inside GS don't work, and even the link for post a new topic here didn't work (click on "new" and it just sat there until I finally scrolled down and saw this). Seems like there is a lot broken and not enough good documentation on expression editor. I'm concerned about memory links, etc. Don't get me wrong, so far I am very impressed but I may as well invest my time in xCode which I already started and had better success coding the physics and animation. PLUS it was much easier to code graphics and animation with sprite sheets. I guess over time GS will be improved. I would also like to be able to see the raw code after I've added actions and functions.

If documentation is a problem, The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook might remedy that issue.

It is definitely a good book.

Hey Tara, well GS is not for everyone. Good luck in the future.

    cheers

HaHa I was thinking must not be one of the 99% of people GameSalad is targeted for.

I think the same thing sometimes, I would love to learn xcode and do that instead of gamesalad for obvious reasons (better games, more options and features, etc.) but I have to disagree with the support.

The support on these forums are insanely amazing! sure, I have had a few topics that haven't gotten answered but for the majority they have all been answered and I know so much more about gamesalad then I ever have.

I would like to know where you learned xcode from? as I am interested in learning it :)

I ask questions daily and get answers within minutes. Best forum support I have ever experienced...my game is really coming along thanks largely in part to this forum and TSB's cookbook

Seems strange to me. GS is obviously far easier coding. And the support on this forum is excellent. Perhaps you are trying to do too much too soon - I find it's easier just to work on a small part of a project at a time.

Well I think most of my problems come from over thinking a problem and trying to do to much to soon.

I don't know if GS will do everything we want it to (too early to tell) but from my experience the support is some of the best (and quickest) I've experienced.
