Hey, I've seen a lot of tutorials on "How to make a character walk" and "How to make moving platforms" but I haven't seem any videos on "How to make a good game". Now I'm not saying I know how to make a game that will reach the #1 spot but I was considering on making a video series that may help point people in the right direction. Does this sound like something anyone would be interested in? If it is then what kind of topics would you like me to cover?

It's an interesting idea. Thing is, there have been whole books written on 'how to make a good game'!

I'm sorry, that's not very helpful. Sorry!

I guess you could start with UI elements. How to give visual and audio cues to player input maybe?

Like on a menu screen for example. Pressing a button should make a sound and the button should animate somehow to show it's been pressed.

Or when adjusting something, like volume, or opacity, in an options screen. Have something either sound or change opacity to indicate something's changed.

    Does that help?

    BackUpAndDown,
As QS already mentioned, the extensive tutorials come usually in book or video training from such companies as Lynda or VTC.

    Unfortunately, it's a catch 22 situation ....
Until a platform has 1000's of users, a book "might" not be profitable but sooner or later, it will happen! It always does.
Not only that, usually, once the ice is broken quite a few books surface.

Take blender (which is an open source 3D suite) for example. For the first few years, there was NOTHING except a forum and an IRC channel where many were frequently told to FTFM (Read The Friendly Manual) ... which, ironically didn't exist.
Fast forward a few years and there are many books and even video training.

For now, the trick is to document it yourself ... have a little cheat book or something like that. That's what I do ... scribbles of rules and attributes and "what" they do.
