Just google shading wi photoshop on google or YouTube, it's most just an artists eye with a little bit of technique, I don't think there is an automatic way to do it.

YouTube has a ton of tutorials on it

    Hey ozb,
try to find "cartooning" tutorials ... how to draw (basically anything, manga, fantasy characters etc ...)
There are plenty of those out there plus, tons more books.
Once you have that mastered, you will be able to draw a lot of stuff for your games.
Maybe read up on "specular" and shading if you want to take this further.

Basically, if you draw a sphere and apply a radial gradient with a lighter color in the center, you have the minimum basics of shading .... think of it as "the more something sticks out, the lighter it usually is.

As with everything, there are exceptions to every rule but a good start would be to simply fire up google and look at cartoon images. Especially simple stuff.

I'm having limited luck, no idea how Okimoki did it on mine without the outline layer.
I better just forget about Graphics for now or i'll never finish in time.

I'll show you a shading technique you can use. real easy and real effective. I'll jump on Skype in a little bit, let me know when you will have a few minutes available today.

Create a layer then put your object there "a ball for example" then goto layer-->styles and then choose drop shadow.

Brian, sorry, i missed you PM! Dont really pay that much attention to this stuff :)
Anyway, here's a quick how i did it.. really basic but it can translate to any shape you need, just have to imagine the shape of things and how the light and shadows would fall.. first do this, then move on to textures etc..
