In just about 3 hours, I'll be getting (hopefully) a Nintendo 3DS

Hoping to get Street Fighter IV and either Ridge Racer (love my Ridge Racer) or Pilotwings...

I've never seen one of these 'in the flesh' as it were, so I'm eager to find out what the 3D looks like!

I think I need a cold shower!

Lynx?!!! LoL. Has some vauge memories reading about it in VGC. GameGear and Lynx where both handhelds with colorscreens, but somehow the B/W GameBoy won that market. 3D ( without those stupid glasses) seems really cool, but I just dont have the budget. What would happen to Nintendo if the iPhone 5 has a 3D screen?

Sorry I haven't posted sooner.

My god. It's amazing.

Seriously.

I spent the first hour and a half just playing around with the stuff inside the actual console.

Took 3D pics. Tried the AR cards out (they are awesome btw!).

I eventually got round to trying Street Fighter - which is brilliant! And now I'm onto Ridge Racer.

The 3D really works. I know everyone says that, but I hadn't tried it till today. And it works.

I'm very, very impressed - well done Nintendo!

Now to give Ridge Racer a bit of a go

I'm glad you're liking it dude. It sounds awesome. I heard that the augmented reality stuff is really neat too. Plus you can't go wrong with Street Fighter. I would get one but there are soo many ace console games coming out soon so I'll have to wait on the 3DS.

Maybe by the time I'm in the market for one they'll drop the price a little and release the 3DSi or lite, ha.

Oh, I'm sure they'll release an updated version! But I usually buy all models of hardware anyway. Need to get the DSi and DSiXL at some point. I'm sure they'll drop in price soon though

I think the Mii/streetpass thing will be awesome. I'm planning on going to the first 'Streetpass Meet' at Kings Cross station on Sunday - should be interesting!

Quantum Leopard sounds awesome

Actually, talking about sound - the surround sound on this thing is really quite impressive as well. Very nicely done.

At the end of the day, it's a charming little gadget. Seriously, my jaw aches from all the smiling I've done!

I can't wait now for:
Starfox
Zelda
Mario Kart
Animal Crossing (I can't get the internet working on the 3DS at the mo' - but it'll be essential for this game!)

It's just a lot of fun. It really is. And I was a little skeptical (if excited) going into this...

I'd recommend one for sure!

As a Nintendo video game nerd I'm of course interested in any new hardware from Nintendo. But I never owned a DS, and I doubt that I'll buy a 3DS. Most people I talked to told me that the 3D effect works, but isn't really perfect because of the narrow sweet-spot. And the rest of the technology in Nintendo hardware is -as always- not really revolutionary, maybe even terrible (cameras).
I found it very, very funny to listen to Iwata and Reggie Fils-Aimé in the last months. On every keynote they shouted something like "content is king" to make sure $45 Nintendo 3DS games have more value than $0.99 iPhone titles. What I don't understand is: why is Pilotwings Resort so limited than? It's only one location, which is a total copy of Wuhu Island (Wii Sports Resort). No online or local multiplayer. No online leaderboards. No downloads. No new locations. No achievements. Can be played through in an afternoon... It's sad, because I really liked the SNES original.
I'm happy to own a Wii, but -to be honest- the support is horrible. Even though it's the most successful console, there aren't any new channels or updates coming. Most Wii games are pure crap. I'm not sure if Nintendo does it better with the 3DS. I may getting one though if there'll be a bundle with Mario Kart 3DS or Paper Mario 3D. Except those two games, only Kid Icarus may be interesting to me.
