Hello, everyone,
I have a major half-year assignment that I have to complete, and I need to do some research. I'm making an iPhone app, but I want it to be very special...
Please post the following:
-What you like in a game
-Favorite Genre
-What you want to see in a game
-What you think makes a game successful
Now this is all a personal project, but I am just conducting a survey, and don't worry, you will all remain anonymous. :P

-Favorite Genre: adventure
-What you want to see in a game: quality graphics again
-What you think makes a game successful: playability
-Favorite Genre: platformer
-What you want to see in a game: good graphics
-What you think makes a game successful: again having good graphics, quick gameplay, easy to pick up and play, engages players, creates experiences/feelings, highscores, replayability
favorite genre- endless in some way. like a "get as far as you can" game
what you want to see- good graphics and replayability
what you think makes a game successful- Good understandable graphics, simple yet challenging gameplay, and replayability
Here are my answers:
-What you like in a game? Good graphics and playability
-Favorite Genre? Puzzle games
-What you want to see in a game? Instant playability (i.e. not having to read instructions), good looks, credible story/plot/basis/objective, nice music & sound effects, challenging but not impossible, save progress, easy and smooth game play, no bugs or errors
-What you think makes a game successful? All of my answers above plus marketing! (But, as you'll know if you've seen some of my comments on other threads, I haven't found out how to market apps successfully . . . and a lot of other developers think success is more because of the game than the marketing.)
I hope my answers help and good luck with your project.
Simon
