Me and my friend (jeancrast user) have been working on this game for two months...This is an original game that includes zombies, robots, aliens.....for MAC This is the work done till now...Please leave your comments...I really appreciate it
The first thing that stands out for me, is the animation on your main guy. I think if you animated his shoulders and head etc in the run cycle as well as his legs, that would make it look a million time nicer.
The jump seems like it's a little "floaty" for my tastes.
I like the look of the backgrounds, it's quite a unique look (in a good way)
I also think your game over screen, title screen, and level select screen feel a little cheap compared to the rest of it (looks a bit like early 90's amiga shareware)
Hope I've not bashed it too harsh there...cos it does look like you guys have made some decent progress there.
I set it 200 but only when the actor is jumping...so when I need to press the left/right also while moving because when I jump when pressing only the space....he jumps only a bit off the ground...I don't know how to balance them...and I made another (down acceleration when standing (500)...because when I lowered it...he jumped too high....
So when I press space only he almost doesn't jump...I need to press also right/left key to jump high...and also when I lowered the gravity for when he is standing he jumps well but then jumps too high when pressing also the left/right while in the air
Also, you can make an image of a guy jumping up and a guy falling (look at the platformer demo on GS for more of that).
Also, I'd slow down the shooting rate of the enemies. Games are only fun if they are beatable, but still provide a challenge. It seems that all those bullets flying around would make it difficult to play/beat.
Well... I don't want to be too mean... but, speaking person to person, your game is not that great. The graphics are ok, your actors' movements are subpar, the whole bullet system is completely off, the menus are, I have to say it, down right horrid... I feel bad when I say this, but, did it really take you 2 months to complete this? Most people that use GameSalad, even beginners, could have done something like this in a week at the most... All I'm saying is that, if you release this into the App Store, it will put a bad name on you and a horrible name on GameSalad... I don't want this to happen to you or GameSalad, which is why I'm being honest here. I'm sorry, but before you continue making anything with GameSalad, you should try more demos and watch more tutorials...
