Hi all, I'm new with GameSalad.

I'm wondering how to do an "endless stage" I mean; like those where you have your character going and going and never ends until an enemy kills your character or a fall or or anything that stops it?

I post this after watching some very cool videos that give nice tips and reading some of the forum's posts but none resolve that doubt.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Than kyou in advance.

Lhyak.

For that, I need to make a very large background (stage)?

What resolution should the background be to not look like distorted or pixeled?

It should be PNG or GIF format?

Is it possible to make a random generated stage with GameSalad? If so how would be the best way to do and implement it?

Thank you a lot in advance!

Yeah! Like Doodle Jump or Mega Jump would be a perfect example! Those you go the higher you can and the stage keeps going and going (the background).

I think you dun need very big scene, just some scrolling back ground/parallax scrolling, and actor recycling.

    Hi Lhyak,

welcome. Just in case you don't know .... when you open Gamesalad creator and in the NEW+ area you can double click those projects that appear BUT also you can search and 100's of other projects are there to freely use and learn from. In this case the Alien Conquerors might be good to look at or search 'scroll' and you will find numerous templates to double click.

Also if you haven't yet done so look under the Support tab at the top of the page for the Cookbook tuitorials and the Help page which has links to step by step game making which is helpful for those new to GS.

    Good luck.

Thank you Simo103. Did not know about the other projects I can see and I'll grab that Alien Conquerors to analyze like you say.

I did know about the Cookbook tutorial but I couldn't find any that focuses in that specific topic. But it indeed have very nice tutorials that reaches many other questions I had.

    Thank you all!

The best idea i can come up with to maximize the fps. instead of having a very long scene have only the background scroll and have actors run across the screen and recycle back and fourth. this should give you the effect you are going for. Now if you want it to get harder as you go just set up a timer to change the attribute referring to the difficulty. Have the rate of your enemies spawn coincide with this attribute. For a jumping game though like DoodleJump. Good luck and if you figure out how to get a platform jumping one like that, hit me up.
