    Hi T,
what sounds/FX are you looking for?

GarageBand has quite a lot of useful FX but they might be tricky to access without a MIDI keyboard.

The bad news is that a MIDI keyboard which accepts USB input is not cheap and nether is a converter cable so you have to do it manually.

Fire up GarageBand and play with the presets. There is a keyboard on the left hand side which you can click on with your mouse.

I was surprised how much stuff Apple put in there.

and if you just want to record sfx from garageband try using http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/
another option would be soundflower and then audacity or quicktime

You cannot just use the Garage Band loops by themselves in your projects. But search for public domain sounds and you should find some good stuff or you could go look at the links in the wiki that have been provided. Some sites are free and some are not but hey i'm sure since your a good Game Salad user you already have read the wiki and knew those where there right? ;)

I'm pretty sure Garage Band loops are free to use in any commercial project. The only thing you can't do is sell them by themselves, but part of a game is fine.

yup you sure can I specifically email apple asking about this. What you can't do is save all the loops in a folder and then sell them as loops you made.

Try CFXR ( http://thirdcog.eu/apps/cfxr ), it's free and it's perfect to generate retro style sounds.

You cannot use single loops read the License Agreement. You have to combine multiple loops into one project before you can use it commercially

The GarageBand software license agreement says:

"GarageBand Software. You may use the Apple and third party audio loop content (Audio Content), contained in or otherwise included with the Apple Software, on a royalty-free basis, to create your own original music compositions or audio projects. You may broadcast and/or distribute your own music compositions or audio projects that were created using the Audio Content, however, individual audio loops may not be commercially or otherwise distributed on a standalone basis, nor may they be repackaged in whole or in part as audio samples, sound effects or music beds."

keep reading. it clearly says "on a standalone basis" the moment you add the loop to an iphone game, It is not a standalone basis anymore. You are not selling the audio you are selling the game. What they mean by that is that you cant take a single loop file and sell it to someone else. (or a whole package of loops for that matter)

I email them asking that. And the response was:

"Yes you can use all the loops you need in your game, Basically what you can't do is sell the loops as loops"

    regards

Apple don't want the loops distributed as loops but using a loop on its own in a game is fine.

    edit: snap :)
