How do apple knows its an ipad game?

Hi guys.
Sorry for the silly question. I'm about to publish a game for the ipad. But in itunes connect when I click add new app. They never ask me if its an ipad app or an iphone app. Im guessing when I choose ipad on gamesalad and building the game and sending to them they automatically know that its an ipad game. Am I right?
