Hey guys
i want the iPad to recognize when one puts his hand on the device like in the pic:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So basically the hand needs to create some kind of a wall that actors needs to collide with ..

its complicated cause the device dont recognize the hand as multiple touches or as a wall of touch,

i need your help here guys please post any suggestions .

Roy.

the only way I could think of a wall being able to follow the correct line of your hand would require some vector to angle and a sort of karate chop/swipe movement.

I don't think that can be done.

    Thanks for trying to help

The walls rotation does not need to change - rotation always 0

I was thinking you could touch the screen, drag your finger down, and a wall would form between the two points.

    Essentially, 'drawing' a wall.

Ya, good luck on this one. For some reason I got an image of myself trying to finger paint with my cheek (not very accurate). The problem I see with this is that the device will probably pickup the "touch" wherever the side of your hand hits first resulting in accuracy issues.

Ok well im not giving up yet cause one can always come with an idea that will mimic this action
    thanks for trying

The closest thing i could thing of is to constrain an invisible actor that is an average hand length long, when touch is not pressed move it off screen. Sorry, thats the best i could think of!

Yep , thats what im current doing , but it constrain even to a single finger touch , and the purpose is that this action will not work with finger touch but with the whole hand.

Just thinking about this here probably wont work, but what if you could get "chop" touch to count for more than one touch. and when the Y from the 2 touches is at a certain distance it makes the actor?

Idk if u can do anything with that

play about with touch count and individual touches, even with a slight curve on the edge of the hand or a little wrist to finger tip roll my ipad registers two touches quite happily

try this uber basic project file... maybe its just the shape of my hand ?

Thats a nice idea ! do you mind increasing the height of the actors to 300 and see if you can mimic a wall with your hand?!
I dont have an ipad to test it on.
