Does anyone else do this?

Ok so I am a procrastinator. thats normal. But I ALWAYS switch project ideas for some reason. I get new ideas every night the MINUTE I hit the bed, and I am up for another our righting them down and sketching them out. The next day I work on that idea. and the cycle continues, with a list of 73 and counting app ideas laying next to me bed. Every night, new ideas. Everyday, start something new. Its like, I feel that the next idea is better. and I want to just submit a quick, but FUN app to the appstore just to have something out there and hopefully get some cash. Then the templates I come across. I see a template, and I am like.."ok, so I can change it up a bit, make some art, and submit" so I buy it, and get a new idea the next day, and the template goes to the GS templates folder. haha.

PROS- Always got ideas flowing(decent ones)

cons- Always starting new projects, not getting much on one project done.

Anyone else do this?
any advice?

thanks everyone

pick one project idea you are passionate about and work on it till it's done. That will break the ice. keep writing your ideas down, but try and focus on one game for a month and see what you can do.

I've got tons of ideas for apps (as well as 3d projects I'd like to do, movies I'd like to make, books I'd like to write and kitchen sinks I'd like to single out for the sake of a cliché). Most would probably take longer than my long term project Physics in a Box (I swear, I'll find all the physics work-arounds I need as soon as pixel-based collision and ragdoll physics come out). What you need to do is pick one and go with it. Keep writing your ideas down.

Writing them down can't hurt anything, and you can then pick the best from those and do it.

(sorry for the split post. I forgot I hadn't finished when I edited part of it.)

See I want to do that, but I ALWAYS feel like my newest idea is better and will be more successful.

Try having a day spent completely on brainstorming ideas. This will let you come up with many ideas, and will let you pick from a selection of polished ideas. Also, think about practicality, time consumption, and sellability (is that a word?). Think of Davinci. His art was good, but, during his life at least, no one wanted to buy it.

Until you break this cycle it never will be (because it will never get done).

Ideas just come to you man. Well for me. Like the minute I go to bed, I get about 4. One is genius, 2 are ok, and the other is just an idea. Usually. So TRYING to think of ideas wont work. believe me I have enough. its just I dont want them going to waste haah.

I am going to try just sticking with one and working on my next favorite and keep THAT cycle going.

here's an idea about your ideas..
share the ones you don't plan on making with the rest of the world.. some may find them realy good or useful and may make a good game out of it..
or they will just lay in your drawer..
But seriously.. write them all down to a piece of paper, pick one or two and start working on them.. till you finish.. you'll probably find out that its worth sticking by the ideas you picked..
Then after you finish, pick another one or two..
