Changing Multiple Attributes when Actor Collides/Meets with objects

Hi there,

As someone new in GS, I would like to do several things, but don't know how to do it. Thus, I need your help guys.

Here's what I wanted to do.
How do you change the attribute of an actor if the actor meets/collides with an object. For instance, if Mario gets his Mushroom, then he will get bigger, he will have double life (when he hits an enemy, then he will shrink to his original size instead of die instantly), you know what I'm talking about.
The same thing when mario gets a "star" or gets a "flower". Or if Mario first gets "Mushroom" (he'll be bigger), then second he gets "Flower" (he can shoot), and then he gets "star".
So, my question is really about actor attributes. If someone can enlighten me on this topic, I would be very grateful.
