I was thinking exactly the same Its hard to ask questions if we dont know what you've achieved.. I would like to make a sidescroller/platformer HnS with some PRG elements some day, i have some ideas.. so, would be nice to see yours to see what you have and what is possible etc
My GS is currently coded to be played by touch so Ill have to revert it. But to Asymptotell; my corpses are split into two thing, the body falling after the strike and a gib (weapon or head) and the thing I did was make sure that the body lasts as long as up to the next enemy your trying to kill, so your not WATCHING it, and then destroy it or add a timer=every .1 seconds = alpha-.15, etc
I used a trial terrible-quality screen recorder that doesnt do much justice, but here goes. This game has been about 3 months in progress by just myself.
Also the framerate looks terrible; each swing animation of a character has about 11-12 different frames just itself. Theres another type of enemy but Ill save if for when you guys buy it =P
I'm a "New,New,New, Newb" lol. what program did you use to create your characters? I want to create a Street fighter styled game. I do graphic design work in photoshop and illustrator but when I consider that the fighters will have to be able to turn in multiple directions and have articulations such as moving limbs... I begin to think PS and Illustrator won't get the job done. any pointers for a super newb?
PS or AI would do the trick, the animation is done with multiple images in GameSalad, like traditional animation. So you would want the articulation to be different layers in PS or AI, move/change it, export a png, repeat...
to FranzKeller; this was a little more in beta but there is currently a jump arrow upwards over the attack button.
To Waxgoggles, I draw framework and coloring with several adobe programs (look into flash), and then refine textures/sharpening and resizing with the good ol' PS.

you can now use "quicktime player" as a screen recorder btw
(what makes him jump, when there is no jump button?)
