Wheel of Fortune swipe function

Hi guys, I've done some poking around and found out how to assign really solid rotation functionality to an object based on touch, but how do i apply momentum to the object after release (like spinning the wheel of fortune)?
Suggestions welcome. Follow up to this would be how to assign different results to different sections of the actor.
Would the following work: I group multiple actors to the edge of the wheel, and have a series of booleans conditional to various result screens. whichever wheel-lining actor comes to rest at a predetermined x/y (the win arrow), they'd report back a boolean of 1, triggering the appropriate response.
Does that make sense? Is there a more elegant way to do it? Am I missing some obvious tutorial somewhere? Thanks guys and gals.
