Custom font or arial/built in
I'm working on creating a physics game (the graphics don't matter quite as much--the gameplay I think is what will make it sell) and wondered:
Can I just use the built-in "Display Text" or is it very important to create custom text for apps (this'll be 99c, not free).
Doodle Destroy seems like a great game, and it's text isn't too fancy. (A little background--I started putting in custom images/actors for buttons/text, and it's getting me really frustrated--I'm wondering if it's worth it, or necessary to a good game).

it will show through in any screen shots... it does take a bit of extra effort and can be the last bit of polish you add to a game.
Definitely do custom fonts where possible.
As for the fonts, there are mixed opinions, but I think the built in fonts are okay if you play with the settings. I think they work fine if kept small, and you test different colors on different backgrounds. This might have changed in more recent version of GS, but I kept noticing slight black artifacts in the anti-aliasing of color type that was white on certain color fields.
Just IMO.
