Ogg files play in stereo but caf plays in mono

I'm checking up on something here. I want to make sure my findings are correct and wonder if this is easily confirmed by Gamesalad or the community.
- Using Play Music, only one file can play at a time with no simultaneous music files playing.
- Ogg files can play simultaneously and in stereo.
- Ogg files load up into memory at the beginning of their associated level.
- Caf files can play simultaneously but only in mono.
- Caf files only load upon being called, which cuts down on load time.

I'm really really REALLY wishing I could have the option to play .caf files in stereo, simply due to my load time. I need multiple streams of stereo audio and it seems .ogg is my only option.

Am I correct in this and if so, could Gamesalad give me a check box for stereo .caf's in about the next seven days? lol!

Oh the pain.....

When you say mono, is it taking both left and right channels and making them one mono channel removing the stereo image? Or is it only playing out of your left (or right) speaker?

I've never messed with .caf files before, so this piqued my interest.

Good question - it's taking both left & right info and playing them center, so in other words, the stereo imaging has been removed, although both speakers are working. I've let GS know about it and they are looking into it. The thing I did find was that unless I created the .caf files the correct way, they wouldn't play at all in GS. So there's a right and a wrong way to make .caf files. I expect all that can be documented if needed before too long. I'm still learning about them now but figuring it all out.

For now I'l using .ogg files. They work great and are stereo, they just take forever to load at the beginning, so not the ideal solution for this particular project of mine that is so sound/music heavy.

I use caf file in Apple's music library. It plays in gamesalad during development. But when I compile and put it in my iPad, the caf files do not play. I had used the same caf files before in my earlier app and it worked. Wonder why it doesn't work now... is it the version of gamesalad? or is there something else? Any idea?
