User Interface Design

The reason for my post is to see what you guys think about interface design.

I personally like a simple UI that works. My buddy is of the mind that the interface needs to be ornate like what you see in most games.

My question is if you seen an interface such as the ones in the screenies, would this put you off from buying? Or is it 'good enough'. Discuss.

(It's of course not complete, but should give an idea of the general framework. Simple.)

I looks good, i like the retro look. Buttons look slightly blurred, but it fits.
