Friday 4/22 - the app was live for several hours and received 23 downloads
Saturday 4/23 - first full day of availability the app received 100 downloads. It held a position of 136 in Games>Puzzles.
Sunday 4/24 - no download number yet, obviously, but the app position in Games>Puzzles is currently 92

I think the game is pretty good but a lot of the traffic is coming from cross promotion. The cross promo has kicked the app into the rankings and earned it some organic traffic. All and all I'm thrilled with the results... I'm still a strong advocate for cross promoting your applications.

Every one of my 180+ apps has an alert that fires at launch. It's an xml file I host on a web server. I can change the alert dynamically. In this case I have the alert ask the user if they want to check out my game. If they say yes I link them to the app in the appstore. A No will cancel the alert.
On top of that I run AdMob in most of my apps. AdMob supports house ads, which basically means I can run adds for my other apps for free. So set my AdMob ads to my GS game.
Pretty simple really, but it works.
I wrote a post explaining in detail these techniques. I recommended that developers try and produce a large quantity of applications so they can cross promote. There was some concern that it might be difficult to achieve quality and quantity, which certainly makes sense. I think some of the like-minded developers should think about hooking up and forming a kind of cross promotion collective.

I think I can say that it is work like this and amazing download numbers is what pushes us all to do what we do. There is nothing like a good success story to make get us all motivated to do the best on our games.
