How many sales do you get in your first week on average? for good and poor games

I was wondering if a game I release turns out not to be that popular will it still sell a few in the first week...

Has there ever been a really good game that made basically nothing?

Just any information to this genral topic would be good.

I've been working on a couple of games and jammed them with heaps of effort so I worry a little : )

    Running Wild from Darren made only 100USD in 3 months, Red Ball of Goo did 80,000USD in first 24 hours I believe. it's always a gamble...

    That sounds more reasonable, still great, but reasonable.

    Then sales will eventually trickle off, or just stabilize at a trickle, unless there's a promotion?
