Is it possible to publish an .exe for the Mac desktop?

Hey all,
I'm new to GS [I don't even have my Mac laptop yet but I've been reading up on GS so I'll be prepared when it arrives] and I'm confused primarily about one fundamental matter- can GS make executable programs for the desktop, or can it only create web-based and iphone games?
