You read right guys.

Apparently they're doing it to "knock out the competition" so to speak...
What makes things worse is that I heard they're from this forum!

I heard from a reliable source. He refuses to use the forums now because of this.

I'm a bit worried about posting about my game when that does happen.

Who cares? As long as you have a solid game, a few kid's bad reviews can't hurt that bad. And, would people really take the time to do that?

There are also several review sites that will knock it over be GameSalad so It's no surprise there would be individuals. I wouldn't worry to much though if his target is only GS Games he prob makes crappier games and has way more competition than just GS users for sales. One bad review I highly doubt will hurt anything if your game is any good.

    You're both right.

It's just an annoying little worm I suppose...
It's sad how some review sites will knock our games just because we made them with GS.
That's a big part of the reason why i'm going pro on the release. Then it'll be for GameCentre :P

It's been going on since the beginning. I recommend you don't just post promo codes here, at the very least make people email you for them.
  • EatingMyHatEatingMyHat Member Posts: 1,246
yes, I stopped posting codes some time ago. I either send codes to people that I know and want to get their view or offer to send one for people that will PM me.

At least it does not seem that Apple is looking negatively at GS as there are many featured GS games.

Some people are just dumb. A good game is not about what you use, it is only about what you create. If you enjoy playing it, what do you care how it was created?

Yeah, and probably 98% of the world doesn't know what Game Salad is anyway.
I know my friends don't care.

    I'd say just ignore this.

(Hope I got this one right ;)

Couldn't of said it any better buddy.

I started using GS in January when I finally got a MAC for it.

Haven't released anything yet though as I only want to release my best quality games.
Money is good but it can wait till my customers are satisfied.

    Ludwig - lol true true.

This thread makes me a bit sad.

WRT people knocking games just because they're GS - this is very irritating. You wouldn't knock a game made with Flash or Unreal Engine or what have you. Everyone uses middleware nowadays, and just because GS happens to be easy(ish) to use, there shouldn't be an assumption that the games are bad.

The problem, I suppose, is that there are quite a few bad gamesalad games. There are a lot of bad games on the app store fullstop. I guess the only way to change the ingrained opinions of certain people is to not release bad games and drag the average down. If GS games are a higher-than-average standard on the app store, maybe this perception will be reversed.

As for people from these forums going out of their way to trash other's games - I was shocked to hear this. Their time would be a lot more productively spent improving their own output.
