GIMP Problems...

Not sure if i'm doing something wrong, but when i try to save a file on GIMP, i cannot transfer it to other software. Everytime i open it it always opens on GIMP even though i have save as a JPEG image?

I've never used GIMP but the title brought our my child side and made me chuckle lol.

click save as and where you type what you want to name it delete everything and type the name out then .png

Photoshop but recently bought Illustrator and making the transition to that at the moment.
