A slightly different approach to learning GS

I've been thinking about some different ways to learn GS and made a couple of posts to my blog. Any noobs out there that are interested in building their understanding of GS along with me should read this post:

I posted the first build challenge (its really for noobs - which includes me) here:

http://massivegameplay.tumblr.com/post/5090880916/challenge-1

It works like this - on my blog, I will post a screen video that demonstrates a working GameSalad construct. If you want to play along, watch the video and then see if you can figure out how to build what's being demonstrated.

After some time has passed, I will post an explanation of how to build it piece by piece. In the end, I will also post a brain teaser that I may or may not know how to solve myself :)

If you're interested, join me - I'm sure that we will learn together.

interesting idea. Maybe you will start a new wave of GameSalad learning. Checking this out now. I'm not exactly a noob, but still can never learn to much. :)

Well I just checked it out. and I think actually you might be on to something with the real new people. It's complex enough to confuse people with no experience but easy enough to figure out.

Good luck with this and be sure to bookmark this post and keep updates posted here too and not just your site.

Awesome idea. That challenge is a bit to easy for me but I am sure it will be a good challenge for people starting out.

Thanks for the encouragement everybody. Tell all your noob friends to follow this thread and check in on my blog. I don't know if you’ve found this to be true, but I find that when I am attempting to teach something - I often learn the most. So, I suppose you could call this endeavor somewhat self serving, but I'm sure that I would quickly lose steam if nobody was learning along with me.

I think I will post the first couple of steps along with explanations tonight. I will then follow tenrdrmer's advice and update this thread when there's a new challenge, or explanation on the blog.

As promised, I have an explanation of the first few steps to the first build challenge:

Another reminder - this is for noobs by a noob. That doesn’t mean that sous chefs can't weigh in/correct anything I'm attempting to explain and understand here.
