Why is my app ranking so well even though it hardly gets any sales or reviews?

About two weeks ago, I recently launched my app "Highway Havoc" on the Mac App Store. At the moment it is not in the Top Charts in the U.S. store, but is ranked 50 (out of every single paid app on the store) in the Australian Store. It is above many, many apps that are admittedly far better than it and must get more sales than it. Seeing as it is doing so well in the charts, you would think that it is because a lot of people are buying and reviewing it. Wrong. It only gets about 3 sales from Australia every day and has no reviews. The app only has one review that i'm aware of and that's a 4 star review in the US store, but the app is not charting in the US store.
I was wondering if anyone has any idea why it is ranking well even though it's not getting many sales. Is it because it's a new app. Because at first it was doing far better in the US store than in the Australian store. Will it start to fall down the ranks, because all it seems to be doing at the moment is climbing to the top.
It should be noted that I am Australian. Does the store rank apps made in that country higher? I guess I just want to know why it is undeservedly ranked seemingly high. Any thoughts?
Thank you!

No there are just not very many apps on the mac appstore and then thrown in the mix there are prob not a huge user base of macs in Australia. much less a ton of mac users actually buying apps off the mac app store. so you are prob ranked in the top 50 because the few Australians that have macs are buying your app.

Food for thought I have an app on the app store that received 1 sale in armenia. that one sales ranked my app in the top 20 and it has stayed there. Why? because theres not that many people in Armenia that are actually using an iOS device and buying apps.

So market off the fact that you are in the top 50 in Australia, because most others wont question why, but you can prob better judge your apps overall success from US or UK stores performance.
