I am thinking of purchasing one and was wondering if any of you had an reccomendations due to experience. Preferably would like a cheap one but any reccomendations are appreciated. (please try and be specific)

Wacom Bamboo would probably be good for you. I wouldn't recommend anything not made by Wacom.

Anything Wacom cant go wrong. I still use my Graphire4 that I bought many years ago. I tried other before Wacom returned it back to store same day.

I bought today Wacom Bamboo Fun, and I think that it's great! I totally recommend it!

what sort of thickness' are the pens in comparison to a normal one? (say in comparison to a standard pencil)?

Depends on what sort of pen you use. It's on the thicker side of normal pens you might use, but not the thickest. It's nice.

A little thicker than a standard pencil.
