Please Help!!! How to make a Jump while moving left and right?

I make game on Iphone and i have made a movement ( with touch pressed) left and right - with both arrows. I have also button for jump that works after pressed but i want that while movement right or left i can also jump at the same time. It does not work in my game at the same time and i please wantto know how to make this attribute.. Please help

Im new with gamesalad so please help me with simply example.

Check the platformer template in the shared projects otherwise use acceleration upward for so many seconds or tenths of a second as you feel comfortable with. And apply a max speed for your actor

i have checked in platformer template (there is an atributte for keyboard) and i need to touch. so i stuck and i dont know what to do. Where i need to put this acceleration: to the jumper or to the button - jump?
Please give me more exensive tips.
