Changing Background colors - would you

Need to change the background color multiple times.

Would you:
1. Make a background graphic for each color full size.
2. Make a background graphic for each color small like 32x32 and stretch it?
3. Have one background (white) and then just change the RGB value to change the color?

Which would be better?
Which would be faster?
Which would you do?

    RGB all the way if it's only a color and not a graphic background.
    The png will use memory

    Yes, these will be just a simple "Solid color" background.
