The GameSalad Community is awesome - and growing.

I love the dynamic energy which is floating around here. But I also see, that there is room - with all the members - to have a place with space to development and growth.

For that reason I created a free forum for those in the community who would like to use it, 3 days ago. I have a humble respect towards the people behind both GameSalad and this site - and you find direct links to here and to the official GameSalad facebook site, among other things.

Features:

- Personal signatures
- Personal profiles
- Forums
- Blog function
- Integrated wiki (free to add to - empty now :) )
- Media section - upload videos / tutorials
- Follow friends, like posts, add to facebook
- and a lot more.

It is possible to ask for private forum sections in case any have a group of people who wish to discuss things privately about projects etc. The sections are only visible to members of the group.

I have a lot of plans for the future, for example a live chat, advertising banners etc. - but be careful - the forum is quite addictive :)

Hope to see you there ^-^

I appreciate your efforts but I don't really see the need for an external forum when the internal one is so great! Plus your advertising banner plans concern me about your intentions here.

I appreciate your thoughts, and understand your concerns however, I didn't say anything about paid advertising banners or what I had in mind :)

My plan is to have a page where everyone having a released game (or a game which will be out 'soon') can have an advertising spot. I don't know yet how to create this though. I was thinking that the banner / label could somehow point with a direct link to an external page (for example the website for the game).

No one will force anyone into using that feature though - just with the rest of the features :)

The forum is free to use. And there's really no hidden agendas.

There is though, a lot more possibilities and features for the users of GameSalad and more ways to interact with like-minded.

Sounds good though.Yet the point was only that already there is an place where
you can announce your game and tell everyone.

But i understand you intentions are clear.
  • LykkeLykke Member Posts: 174
I understand there is a place where you can announce your game - however, I also see people making threads where they announce them :) Which is also great. Maybe things can be combine with the banner/label directly to the advert on GameSalad - I don't know yet. You're hitting on an idea I didn't yet develop the outcome for (depends on the possibilities in the forum platform also).

I would like people here to have a place with a little more 'spice', because I'm creative too and I love forums with great people, but I dislike if it's difficult to navigate and communicate. And I do believe it's difficult here.

I also like to tell people who I am and what I do, and to show my work etc. and I feel a lot of creative people like that too - and GSF provide them with exactly that option in a nice way.

As I wrote in the first post - and on the forum, I respect the people who made GameSalad, and also who made this forum. I can't provide you with codes and other cool stuff, I am a taker - because I'm too noobish. What I can do in return is to provide you with an awesome place to 'hang out', be creative and share.

It's really that simple - and I've done it before with the online game where I met my husband. I even make an online/printed game magazine in my spare time without getting paid for it, because I want.

I'm not making forums for a living, and I certainly don't earn on it either - everything is done in my free time - just like you create games in your free time - or art work for people to grab without expecting anything back other than 'thank you, we can use that, that's really awesome'...

    Hope that works out.Nice thinking.

    Thanks :)

And I forgot to add; Everything will be (and is) a credit to the product we all love so much and the people behind - GameSalad. So I really don't see any one is loosing here.

I personally think this is pointless. I'm not gonna bother going to a second site to get help and talk about GameSalad. this forum is part of the community and the community should stay together in one place.

second GameSalad is a trademarked name therefore you could prob get them upset for using it for your own sites name. You should prob at the very least ask their permission before using it.

I do think its cool there are people like you who are willing to put in some extra effort for the community but I think this is not really where the community needs the extra effort.

I would understand if It was not a forum like a marketplace (I do love the gamesalad chatroom) but having another forum wouldn't help anyone. These forums here are just fine. No reason to make another one.

    Just my point of view.

I don't understand the point of a second forum. It would only serve to separate the community.

as a product grows, secondary forums always pop up. think of how many forums there are for video games, applications or bands.

however, i think this is the 5th or 6th secondary forum to crop up in my time here. None of them have lasted more than a few weeks. They are always much better forums feature wise, but never enough people use them.

These are the one's I remember, most have been repurposed.

I did already mail them and also pointed them to the site and name. I did so in the respect of the makers and because I didn't want to make it seem 'shady. I was told they encourage discussions about GS.

    ---------------------

I am not forcing people to use the new forum at all - but I am offering features there, this forum is in lack of. So it's a service I provide and I even provide it for free and spend my free time on it, simply because I want to.

It depends on the individual whether they wish to be a part of more than one forum. I - for example - am a member of a lot of different forums because each of them offers something unique even if they are about the same matter.

It's all for the same course, really, and only positive - and everything will, in the end, give GS a lot of publicity and attention (I know it has now, but I get messages from people not yet involved in GS who want to try it out, based on my advertising).

Whether you feel the community will be split up depends on the individual persons attitude, I believe.

    Keep having fun :)

Thanks Jon, but I rather not compare my forum with any of the above shown forums :) I looked at them and non of them are like the forum I provide.

I get the meaning though - but I'm both stubborn, a fighter, a hard working woman and know what I can. When it comes to forums I've been there and done that - and if you believe in something, you will succeed.

There will always be a negative attitude towards something new like this, and that is also very understandable and I totally accept that. Because non of you know 'what I'm really up to' and that's what I read here between the lines. It's difficult today to provide something without people believing there are hidden agendas, just because you want it and with good intentions, because too many are greedy and only provide something if they gain something back.

I'm a very open person and I'm not afraid to show people who I am - because everything I do I put my heart and soul in.

So, here's a little background about me:

    The forum I also administrate:

    www.entropiaplanets.com
    - is made because I met my husband in that game, got an item named after me and wanted to pay something back to the community.

    www.entropiatimes.com
    - an on-line and printed magazine I create in my spare time - for free - because I wanted to provide the community with something special. They can order a printed exclusive copy if they want, they pay for the printing and the shipping and not a coin more - actually more less, because I have been underestimating the costs - but that doesn't stop me from creating, because I love it.

    www.afterworldforum.com
    - because I played the game and thought the concept was awesome.

And that's it. If you want to know more about me, feel free to add me on facebook; https://www.facebook.com/ann.lykke.schmitz

Feel free to add me on Skype: lykkethenun

Feel free to write me a mail: annlykke@gmail.com

Feel free to read my personal blog: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/forums/blogs/lykke/

    Thank you :)

To all those that say... Thats nice but we have a good forum here..... she is offering some things that they dont offer here. Plus starting fresh might mean a more organized forum. I like this site but it is a bit unorganized. Plus the live chat would be nice. Im sure there are going to be a few stuck up people who will look down their nose at her forum. But hey I see potential. And who gives a flying *&^%&$ if the site has some advertising banners.... how does that affect you the user? Ive read alot of comments in this forum for awhile..... and I honestly feel that alot of you ... actually find things to bitch about. Some of the attitudes in here are ridiculous. WTF you disrespect her idea because she mentioned banner ads? OH NOOOO Heaven forbid anyone here who uses GS as a profit maker outside of putting a game on the app store. Nooooo No one here does that.... do they. But yet the mention of Banner ads on her forum and she is automatically shunned.

    Hey Lykke,

I am here just to Thank You building the GSF!

That is just so great and I am already a member there as you know because I do believe that one, two, more or many more places to "speak" about a subject that is being "my target" at this momment of my life is completely nice anyway!

I do not go to comment about the others posts cause I respect the opinion of them as I want them respect mine.

By the way, wish luck and good work with the GSF! As I`ve said also - you`ll get there! ;)

Best Regards for you and everybody that pass by here. :]

I see people here just think too much or just try to discourage someone who wants to do something. He lyyke is not forcing any one to use the form.He just got an new idea and trying to help others.Whats the problem with you guys cant you just keep calm.If any one uses or not uses this form it is their humble opinion. Why you people seem to be so bothered.I and have noticed this thing so many times.I see if someone want to offer services or has a new idea then so may comments pop up but they dont help others. than people are bothered.

ANd it always shows disrespect to other people. How much you say these words (dont want too hurt or discourage )But you people always do this.

I don't know why anyone would object to this. The more places you post links to your work, the better your SEO. Thanks for the new forums. I've signed up.

Seriously, I'm not sure if the GS community is still big enough, but I don't think it's a bad thing to have other gamesalad forums.

I love the look of this forum, but it's really unorganized. It would be a mess if the community was bigger. (I'm talking about all those topics often in the wrong sections)

It should not be a replacement, but if it has a few things that this one doesn't offer, like the private sections it would be a nice place for a side community. I would love to use a spot in the forum to update progress on my games.

    Good continuation!

    Great looking forum, there Rubiyoo.

I always believed in cooperation rather than competition - so I can make a link on my forum to yours if you like - in fact, I will create a whole service section and don't mind you (or others) advertising there for your Forum ^^

I didn't yet decided where or how to make the links - it will most likely be in a drop down in the top navigation to *Tools* with sub-categories *services, *forums* etc. because you can place a lot of things in a category like 'tools'

Does that sound like a good idea?

    Best wishes ^^
