Best way to find an ipad in local stores.

Hey guys..

I have 3 ipad games ready to launch.. But of course I wont upload them to apple until I fully test them on a device and I don't want to wait the 1-2 weeks + shipping to order online. So right now I'm about to embark on a journey to try to find ipads in stock in the Houston, Tx area.

Do you guys recommend a store that will more likely have them in stock? I called both apple local stores and they are sold out of every model. I was thinking walmart, target, AT&T? what do you guys think before I head out?

im in new jersey so not sure about texas. but here the buzz has died down and everywhere has them back in stock now. walmart ,apple store, mobile carriers, all have them. i would just call around before u head out

Are you looking for the original iPad or the iPad 2? If you want the original iPad, I was able to get a new one from Best Buy (using in-store pickup) for $514 (32GB WiFi + 3G) a couple of weeks ago. The 32GB WiFi + 3G iPad 2 is $729 so that's quite a bit of savings (assuming you have no need for the iPad 2 specific features). You can see if any Best Buy stores in your area have them via the Best Buy website.

Yea I guess that could be plan B... But its a sickness I have to always buy apple gadgets shiny new.. Then they get scratched on day 2 after you took perfect care of them and you are all like how did that happened ... then you buy a case but its too late lol..

Buy the case before you buy the iPad. Problem solved. :-)

I bought a 32GB 3G ipad1 for $350 last month off craigslist. They seem to be getting even cheaper already. i'd go that route. otherwise if you want the iPad2 just order from apple. you will prob get one faster than local stores restocking.

Thanks everybody for your help.... I'll head out now to check if I have any luck... if not i'm starting to like more and more the idea of buying it off craigslist.. i'm actually just gonna use it to develop like 90% of the time..

Come to think about it, it might be better to own the previous model that way I can be sure that if the performance is great on the first model it would be better on the second model.
