Look at Darrien's platformer, he uses bridges in the same way your asking. It moves down depending on where you're standing. I think it's very cheap ;)

No. not like that game, at least not without killing performance.

Actually maybe, but with great difficulty

Just thinking out loud here (and dumping my brain)

(Those who know me/and my more extreme templates know I love a good maths challenge)

It's not going to be "elastic" as such, but it might be a good start)

You could have 2 actors making up 2 halves of the platform (leftside and rightside)
Couldn't you then keep track of the ball's x value, and use that value to set the width of the 2 platform actors.
e.g. if the ball is in the middle of the platform, leftside and right side will be the same width. if the ball is left a bit, then rightside will be longer, and left side shorter.
Then use rotation to make each side "bend" down.

Like I say. just dumping my brain at you, and is not elastic...but might give someone a jumping off point to carry on with a theory.

I would image to get it looking as nice as you want, performance would be terrible.

I did this a while ago, and performance were fairly good, because stuff did his job only on collision. On ipod touch 2g, it would get a little wonky when you drag the guy around to aim, but on 3gs everything worked fine. Must find it though, if I do I'll post it here xD

Darrens bridge was not springy it just sunk down when te player walked on it. Not quite the same thing

Didn't found it in the end, just done it back from scratch.
Not perfect, a little rushed actually, but should be a start for those who are interested :)
    Here it is:

Just drag the lil guy when he is on the slingshot, and release.
