Hey Guys,
I sent this email to bugs@gamesalad.com no reply :(

"Hello GameSalad,
I'm not sure if you've heard of this yet but: I have locked instances on the screen. When I change the prototype it will not change the locked instance until I unlock it & then revert it to prototype. Has this been discussed yet?

Thank You,
Matt

Is this a 0.9.3 bug?

Yep lots of times. and as said before it only doesn't update visually. in the instance. the instance itself still uses the correct rules when played in preview.

Hi NextGen; not trying to be clever here; just best to get terminology right otherwise new GS users might get confused! There isn't such a thing as a locked Instance; if an actor is locked, it's a Prototype. If the Prototype is unlocked, it becomes an Instance of the Prototype. Just sayin' ;-)

Ehh.. I have always called and heard anything placed in a scene an instance. you'll notice when you open an "instance" it says edit prototype in the top left. idk for sure but I think you may be wrong on this gyro.

Well I'm confuddled now! So if a locked actor on-screen is called an Instance of the Actor Item, when it's unlocked, what is it called then? You think just locked and unlocked instances, so only the original actors as items in the Scene Inspector are the Prototypes? Interesting....

One thing for certain, as you know, if you clicked on Edit Prototype button in a locked screen actor edit window, whatever is added to the onscreen actor will be added to the original in the Actors Inspector. THat's why I call these locked types Prototypes. Or a Prototype Instance, perhaps...which would differentiate them from unlocked screen actors, which are Instances of a Prototype. Then that starts to get confusing in my mind, so I just called locked actors on-screen Prototypes, and when unlocked, an Instance of a Prototype. Or to put it simply as I think: locked screen actors are Prototypes and when unlocked, they become Instances.

That's the way I think anyhow, I know I won't change it, and I guess it boils down to just terminology. Whatever gets you through I guess...

I'd be really interested in someone from GS HQ saying how they see it, seeing as they created the application in the first place!
