This seems legit, heard about it from several dependable sources:

I'm gonna try out for it.

Its quite tough trying to sell your game idea in 200 words. Fingers crossed...

I submitted the same game that got me to the finals of the STEM challenge. For that we had a 6 page description/proposal. 200 characters is ridiculous.

I guess they are looking for an "elevator pitch" like in TV and Movies: You catch an executive in an elevator and sell him your idea before he gets to his floor.

If their giving out $500k then I can put my game into 200 words. If they're giving out $500 I say screw them. But we are talking about some serious cash here...

When do they announce winners? Or is this kind of an on going gig?

Announce winners third quarter of this year. (fall?)

Doesn't add up to me; just saying. Hope I'm proved wrong; good luck everyone who applies.

Why doesn't it add up I'm curious?

Yeah third quarter is too vague for my taste.

It doesn't add up for me either as there's no terms or conditions that I can find on the site.

I mean, what happens to your game if you don't 'win'? Usually, publishers/developers have NDAs that you have to sign that says, essentially, that they can still use your idea as they may have already thought of it.

Anyone got a link to the T&Cs?

    Cheers,

    QS :D

Yes I did notice that there is no Terms and Conditions to be found. Which is funny because they specifically say in their video that they can only come up with so many ideas. (So why not have people give us their ideas? muahahahahaha!)

    Edit: just found it, http://www.tinyco.com/tinyfund/terms.php

That's just covering their backs; what about for the people who enter I wonder. No mention about copyright, i.e that the stuff/concept remains yours; "1. You acknowledge that we may be working on games or other projects which are similar to or competitive with the materials described in your Application" : oh, what a coincidence... How do we know that 6 months down the line, your game concept won't be made?

Even small competitions have 10 times more Terms and Conditions than this. I could go on... ;-)

Well it DOES say they are liable for at least $10 if something dodgy happens :o)

yeah for such huge investments you'd expect they'd be able to hire lawyers to write their terms and conditions..

I guess this is mostly interresting if you're game is ready and want them to invest a little in marketing.

But I'm wondering what they take in exchange.
