How does gamesalad manage shapes?

Hi, I have a question regarding shapes. If I create an actor (by default a square) and use in him an image of a triangle, it's shape and physics modify to a triangle`s? For example, if I create another actor and put an image of a circle in it, and then try to put the cirle on the triangle, will it roll and fall because it's very hard to put a ball in the point of a triangle?

The image stays as a rectangle, and if you use circular I think it a circle based on the shortest dimension of the actor size. To build more complex shapes you have to use multiple actors constrained to the master actor and offset and or rotate them. Constrain has a processing overhead so should be tested. It is also a problem if you build an actor that you wish to be moving and has multiple objects as collision area as the GS physics doesn't pass through the collisions through the constrains. This is slated for an update later in the year.

    hope that helps

Right now you can only have circle or square collision shapes on an actor. So you can put an image of a triangle inside a square actor, but the physics engine will still see the square shape only. Some people get around this by using various actors grouped together to achieve a certain shape.

This feature is pencilled in for a future update of gamesalad: http://gamesalad.com/corporate/roadmap/ (polygon collision)

Edit: Aah Kipper beat me to it and gave a better answer - double whammy!

    Thx guys, you're great :)

I gues my stacking games where you stack giraffes and elephants will have to wait lol :P

Stacking games do work, and Darren of deep blue ideas has a template in the for sale section. It does use rectangular shape though.

I know, the cool thing would be to have to stacj different shapes.
