Largest size Background in GS?

What's the largest size of picture GS can support? I can't seem to find it in the search.

I'd like to make a really large background and play a large level. What's the biggest the background can be before I have to break it up?

    Hi DrGlickert; the largest single image size for iPhone/iPad is 1024 x 1024 pxls; anything larger needs to be tiled (again, no other image to be larger than that max.).

    If I get it correct, the size of a scene can be much larger than 1024x1024, right? What can't be larger is a SINGLE image. is that correct?

    How big can a scene be?

    its possible to have an even bigger screen. just cut your image up in tiles to make it look like one big image

    Hi, as Brynje confirmed; and to answer your first question; that's correct, yes.

    A scene can be pretty much as large as you want although there's a limit - you're governed by RAM need to load the scene with those extra images, and some older devices might not like it. I know that some guys here have made very large scenes without trouble though.
