Hi everyone I'm new to GameSalad how you all doing?
Thought I might as well ask and get it all in one instead of keep coming back and bothering you all.

1. What is a splash screen? is that your logo screen that comes after the gamesalad loading screen?

2. when i create my own loading/logo screen how do i get that as scene number one and blend it into scene number 2 where game starts? how do i do this?

3. do i want to register as an individual or a company when registering for the apple sdk? I would like to make money from apps and also get a name that people will remember like EA, Gameloft, sega, etc...

4. who are the people here that do one 2 one services? how much for 2 hours help lets say?

5. if i had a great idea and wanted someone here to partner with me on a game and share profit from sales. is that possible?

1)Welcome, a splash screen is a logo that is usually the first thing the user sees.

2)Well, what you would do is create a new scene & then after 1 second, have it change to the next scene

    3) Well, if it is just you go for an individual account, unless you'd like to make an app company.

    4) I personally do 1 to 1 service, if you are interested please email me at matthewredler@gmail.com

    5) That is possible, personally I don't like profit sharing. But I do develop games for people for a price, not profit sharing.

    Enjoy your day,
    Matt

Hi backhander; welcome to GS and the Forums!

    1. Yes

    2. Make your splash screen fade into the next screen, (or any scene fade into the next) by making a blank actor, drag it onto the screen, double click to get its Actor Editor, call it Fader if you like, make it black, there as well make its size the size of your screen; centre it on screen. Also change its Alpha to 0. In its Rules, put:

    Timer: After 10 secs
    Interpolate scene.Fader to 1
    over 3 seconds

    Timer after 13 seconds
    Change Scene to scene2

That's basically it, you can adjust timings as you want, of course. It's the opposite for the next scene; change alpha to 1, interpolate to 0 over how many seconds you want.

    3. There are benefits as well as the opposite for forming a company/sole trader name but that's the only way you'll have your company name in the App store. Otherwise it'll be your own name.

4/5 Under business and Marketing in the first page of the Forums is jobs and Marketplace; that could be helpful to you.

Good luck and happy game-making. :-)

Whats is an app company? does it cost more or need proof you are registered with that name? is that what you have (netxtgenertainment inc) i just checked the appstore and has your games with your name.

    Hey there backhander.

    Welcome to GameSalad.

    1. What is a splash screen? is that your logo screen that comes after the gamesalad loading screen?
A splash screen is just what you said. Except GameSalads loading screen is also a splash screen

    2. when i create my own loading/logo screen how do i get that as scene number one and blend it into scene number 2 where game starts? how do i do this?
If you publish using the free GameSalad service you will place your splash screen at scene 1 and if you purchase a pro subscription you will actually place your splash during publishing instead of a scene and it will replace the GameSalad logo all together.

    3. do i want to register as an individual or a company when registering for the apple sdk? I would like to make money from apps and also get a name that people will remember like EA, Gameloft, sega, etc…,

This is entirely up to you. both options allow you to show a business name in certain places and the individual will list your name next to the business name. To register as a business will require you create a business and provide paperwork to apple for that business. Either account type can sell and make money on apps.

    4. who are the people here that do one 2 one services? how much for 2 hours help lets say?
There are two main ppl who Provide one on one help. Used to be three but Darren (UtopianGames) got busy with other work.
The two are Tshirtbooth and Tenrdrmer (ie. Myself) My rates are $20/hour. If you go to the market you will see a yellow sticky with everything I offer and you will also see a yellow sticky at the top for Tshirtbooths services and templates as well.

    5. if i had a great idea and wanted someone here to partner with me on a game and share profit from sales. is that possible?
Its definitly possible however you will have to make the choice of who what where where and howmuch between you and the person you pick. Most partnerships are between developer and artists however anythings possible.

Again Welcome and good luck. Looking forward to seeing what you produce.

No it does not have to be registered or anything. No, in the app store that is not my company name. In the app store I am registered as What's On Your Mind Inc. My apps (that are published) are not to impressive as they are my first. I prefer do develop for other people.

    Enjoy,
    Matt

If you create a business account apple will require you to provide documentation for proof you are in fact a business. Some of the accepted proof is things like a business license, Articles of Organization, Partnership agreement, or LLC or Corporation registration papers. I simply went to my local city hall and paid $25 for a business license and that was plenty but depending on your country it could be more.

Sorry last question, i have seen some games that have a little loading sign/indicator in a corner. is this something that just happens if your game is big/a lot of detail in it or do you have a rule for this?

To me is about being official and not having my name floating around the app store. either way business or individual you can write off all your purchases if its for the developing cause in the IRS's eyes your still a business.

Yes all GameSalad games have the loading wheel in between scenes. No way around that other that building multiple scenes in the same scene and moving the camera around instead of changing scenes even then you can't do that a ton or you will kill your games performance.
