Had hoc build opens a blank page

edited November -1 in Working with GS (Mac)
I'm not sure if it's because my itouch is too old, but I released my had hoc app and pressed test in gamesalad. However after sycronizing I can see my app in my itunes but it doesn't appear on my itouch.

It said: ''itunes couldnt not save ipod (mine) because the operation failed''

Any ideas?

EDIT: I tried a second time and this time the app appeared on my ipod. However, it just opens a blank page and then quit.

    Bump.

I would really like to know if anyone has an idea of what causing this crash.

Someone has told me he could run GameSalad on an old itouch device. I would like to make sure the problem comes from my Ipod before thinking of buying a new one just to test GameSalad builds.

    Same problem here.

im running on a 2g ipod with 3.1.3 and can't get a build to open without crashing.

Now, I opened up my game with GS Viewer on a simulated iphone 4.3 and noticed some EXTREMELY high memory usage with the game. So I make a blank game, with nothing in it, and ran it through the Viewer with the simulated iphone. I got a memory usage reading of 45-47MB in the "other" memory. From what I've heard, 40-45Mb is the threshold for older devices before crashing, so I thought this might be the problem.

I sent this to GameSalad, and they said they'd take a look at the Viewer because there are other bugs with that. But I haven't the faintest idea what is causing this.

But I will say that I downloaded ePig Dash when they had it for free, and that crashes for me at the beginning during the ePig Games splash screen (which would be the same as the blank page you're getting, because assuming your blank page is white, that is the GS splash screen before the animation fades in).

Thanks for info guys. I haven't tried the GameViewer yet but if it works it's probably gonna be laggy.

I guess we're gonna need new ipods to test out games :( It's a bit sad that other people with old ipods can't play them either. I had not downloaded apps for a while, and now I realized that I can't run most of the games on itune.

I guess gaming is dead for these old generations. I already spent 300$ on gamesalad/apple lisence, and now I want to buy a mac, a new ipod, and an ipad haha! Gosh apple is expensive XD

See, that I can't just choke down. My iPod will run Chu Chu Rocket and Katamari Damacy great... so it boggles my mind that a blank game from GS can't even open without crashing. Now granted, 3.1.3 can't play games like Infinity Blade, but I would expect a simplistic GS game to work, and most consumers would expect this as well.

but if I buy an iPod 4 and it still doesn't work... Imma be pissed! So I'm hoping for a proper solution.

When you release your games in gamesalad do you make sure in the advance settings it is set to iOS 3.0 instead of iOS 4.0

Right, but even if you publish it as iOS4.0, then it won't even install on a device running 3.1.3, my builds install on the ipod, they just don't work.

Ya I'm pretty sure i've put it to 3.0.

You are going to need to get a new device, sorry. Most of your customers will have better devices. I haven't had a single problem with my iPhone 4. So just upgrade, you would have to do it eventually. Good luck finding a good deal.

if it really doesn't work then your going to have to jailbreak and install 4.X onto your device. I have an ipod touch 2G running the latest iOS and it runs smoothly.

Thanks for info. I didn't want to jailbreak my itouch, but to be perfectly honest it ws because I was scared that it would cause problems when it comes to developping apps, so I wanted to keep it legit :)

At least for an iPod 2G I know it's basically impossible to brick it. The iPhone on the other had I think can have problems. This is what I seem to remember I may be completely wrong.
