I don't even know where to go about getting this information. And, I also understand that the game will determine a LOT on this issue.

BUT, does anyone know if there are ANY kind of statistics on releasing a game free w/ ads or charging $0.99.

Obviously, more people will download free games.

But what I'm curious about is does anyone know what percentage or ratio of downloads of a free game vs. paid games? AND, more importantly, how it relates to revenue generated.

FOR EXAMPLE:
So, if 1 person downloads the paid app for every 10 people that download the free app (let's assume that I can make .70) for every 10 downloads in ad revenue, this would be even.

But if 1 person downloads the paid app for every 50 people that download the free app (lets assume still that .70 for every 10 this would be a net revenue of $3.50 vs. .70 for one sale of the paid).

Hope this makes sense. And, more importantly, I hope that someone has an idea here...

There's really no set number but from my experience with iAds and apple is your fill rate is mostly determined by apple based on your daily download numbers. So you litterally have to be getting 1000's of downloads a day to maintain a filtrate that will give you enough impressions to make any money. My experience is also that most people don't click the ads so you can only really count on the 0.5¢ per impression to make your money. Stormy Studio is the onlyuser I have ever seen post that he has made a steady revenue off iAds I have I think at the most made $15 in one month on iAds. So really in short it's just as much of a gamble as releasing it for sale as a paid app.

    Good luck
