Would anyone be interested in this??
A while ago, I mentioned starting work on some templates, a connect 4 style game template for GS specifcally. Work did begin but was quickly derailed by actual life...funny how that happens. ![:) :)](http://forums.gamesalad.com/plugins/emojiextender/emoji/twitter/smile.png)
Well, I recently quit my day job and am looking for things to occupy my time with, and make a little scratch if at all possible..
So I picked up beginnings of my connect 4 template and instantly realized that I wanted to go a different direction with the game engine. I had started with a physical model where the chips fell into place based on gravity and stayed in place because of invisible wall and "place holders"..that sort of thing. It was actually quite amazing to watch (I'll post a video later), but was a bit of a resource hog.
Now, I'm a little over a day into development on the completely revamped template and I'm going with a more programatic approach. Everything is coming along nicely, the engine works with the exception of a few bugs I've yet to attack. It stays in the near 60's as for FPS with a few momentary drops to high 40's during the heavy lifting...there are quite a few actors on and off screen (everything gets recycled, no spawning).

The point of my post is to see if there is still any interest in this style of template? I am at a crossroads where I am trying to decide if I should just release it as my own game or make the source available for sale. Obviously, the poll is not a commitment, but rather just a gauge for how popular this type of thing might be.
If this template does well here I would obviously be interested in taking suggestions for the next project(s)..
Thanks for your time.

2 - Release the game first, then sell the template. It's the best of both worlds. HA HA!
Sorry, I fixed the image...been a WHILE since I posted an image to these boards...haha
Good advice, but wouldn't that kind of being competing with my customers? lol
BTW, I'm going for a slightly modified "Drop7" aesthetic...
Also, if I get around 10 people interested in buying, I'll release it first as a template...
I'm sure this would be a great learning tool for newer and even some seasoned users alike.
Cutting-and-pasting might happen anyway, but having it on the app store already is a strong deterrent.
One thing I could do is take out all of the graphics, or watermark them like tshirtbooth..so that they have to be added/changed...

To me, that is almost a reason to not release it as a game myself and just put the template out there, even if just for other's learning purposes...

Any way it looks awesome. I might be interested.
Not sure why this thread was moved to the marketplace since there is noting for sale here. Miscellaneous was probably a better place for it...lol
So, I ended up deciding to just release this as a template for now. In the end I don't want to be competing with someone else that may release it "as is". However, I reserve the right to include this as a "mini-game" in another app i'm working on at the moment.
Anyway, here's the link to the marketplace thread if you want more information:
