Hey everyone! Hope you're well!

I don't often come to the Marketplace as I'm busy making games! ;)

But I thought I'd offer an "iTunes description writing" service that some people might be interested in.

The charge is $80 - $40 to start, $40 on completion.

I will need:
*As much info as possible about your game e.g. style, genre, levels, characters, enemies, environment etc etc
*The style you want the description written in.
*Screenshots to get a better idea about the game.
*The target device(s) e.g. iPad, Arm 7 and upwards etc etc
*Any social media you engage in (Facebook page, twitter)

You'll get a first draft that you can request changes on. Then a second draft (also open to any other changes you need). Then the final draft upon final payment.

Additionally, it all depends on my schedule as to whether I can fit you in or not. So don't be offended if I can't help you!

Here's just a couple of examples that I've written for other people:

Grisly Manor by FireMapleGames:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-secret-of-grisly-manor/id384282298?mt=8

I also wrote the description for Tiny Balls by tshirtbooth, but he's edited some of it - the "we'll" is not mine ;) :
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tiny-balls/id436641153?mt=8

And you can read some of my own here:

Air Supply:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/air-supply-1bit-run/id423073029?mt=8

Gravitrixx:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gravitrixx/id404543866?mt=8

Attack of the Kraken:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/attack-of-the-kraken/id335511023?mt=8

In addition, I used to be a game journalist, writing for Edge, Eurogamer.net, PC Format and various PlayStation mags in the UK on a freelance basis, and have written full Press Releases for major game companies in the past too.

Most people won't need this service. Others will probably not make back $80 (especially if it's a free game!).

I'm not even sure that anyone actually *reads* the descriptions!

So, you know, think carefully before you consider asking me to do this for you!

But:
Your itunes page is the first thing people see after clicking your icon. It you have a good icon, good screenshots, and a bit of effort put into your description, you're half way to a sale I reckon! It just completes the overall presentation of your game to the world!

Additionally, the US market is currently the largest for games. If English isn't your first language, then this service may be of greater use to you!

You could also use the completed text I send you as the basis for a press release. So, you know, two birds with one stone ;)

Anyway, just thought I'd put this out there! My email address is quantumsheepinfo at google mail dot com

Cheers!

QS :D

ha... so QS joined the dark side... offering stuff up on the marketplace.... what ever next... :-)

    ....
Nice unique service offering...if you've got a high end/well made game definitely worth the price for a good well thought out professional description...

QS I'll definitely take you up on your offer for one of my next games... I think you'll enjoy writing a description for this one as it's right up your alley... :)

You have a great writing style, and I think it would definitely be worth the investment! :)

    I can't recommend QS's services more highly.

He was able to breathe life and personality into an otherwise humdrum app description. I definitely believe it helped generate more sales for The Secret of Grisly Manor.

I see a lot of people mention that nobody reads App descriptions. I personally think it is a mistake to cut corners on any area of your game. The App description for The Secret of Grisly Manor was used in all of the blog posts I made, press releases I sent out, and app review sites I submitted to.

It's a nice, large block of text that gets picked up by search engines, and raises your profile on the web. It also gives journalists a nice chunk of text to draw from - making it easier for them to quickly post a write-up of your game.

Hopefully he will be writing the text for all my games from now on!

Qs, Do you have a Special Packet for Writing more than 1 game description?

For my game ePig Rope, ePig Dive and ePig Dash?

    Cheers.

Sorry Mago, I don't often check this thread! Silly of me really, I should!

Unfortunately, I'm not doing offers. Sorry!

I think keeping the price constant and true for everyone means that people can feel confident asking for my service, without wondering if they should wait for a special offer or for the price to come down at all.

    It won't!

If you're still interested, mail me at quantumsheepinfo at google mail dot com

    Cheers!

Thanks QS for keeping the price constant. I try to watch seller trends to figure out when they drop prices. Burns me up to pay 40 and see it for 10 3 days later.

    Heya,

Yeah, I don't *need* the work, it's just a nice sideline. If the price was lower, I wouldn't have time to make my games, and they obviously take priority for me!

Still, I've had a few 'customers' - mostly non-GS funnily enough - so some people clearly value the service and that's good to know ;)

Sheepy, would you write content for websites? If so, I'm assuming you'd need to know how much content would be needed, then you would assess the price on that?

I plan to use your writing skills in a future game of mine :)

Yep, you're bang on, mate. I mean, it could be pages and pages of stuff! :P

Remember that you can always use the text I write for you as the basis for anything really - a press release, a game page on your site etc etc. If it's not enough though for other stuff (like your suggested web content), then we can certainly have a chat about it!

    Hi everyone,
I'm pretty much up to date on all these :D

One thing I would like to point out - I won't write descriptions for people who just upload templates 'as is' to iTunes.

I personally don't agree with this practice, and it would look very hypocritical if I helped in those circumstances! Sorry, and hope you understand my position!

    Cheers!

Just to let people know I'm pretty much done on the current descriptions I've written - about five or six in total so far I think!

Thanks to everyone that's used this service - much appreciated!

I would like to recommend QS work! he did the description for Spin The Nut and he did an awesome job! , not only he describe the game in such a slick english , he actually made up a story (for STN) witch the game now is based on !
Working with him is great , he listen to everything you have to say and takes that to consideration, then in the next draft he sent you ,you will be like ... YEAH!! Thats what im talking about ;)

Thank you sheepy , i look forward for future projects with you .

    Roy.
  • quantumsheepquantumsheep Member Posts: 8,188
Thanks Roy for that recommendation! :)

It's true that only very rarely would getting it right happen first time! Hence the three draft method I employ!

With good info up front, and then feedback, we eventually get to something that you're happy with - which is the whole point, really! ;)

Anyway, I'm working on a game at the mo', and I'm up to date with all the writing - so thanks everyone!

His work on Musician's Little Helper was very good. I highly recommend his services.

By the way I think you have some unfinished business with another description... :-)
