iAds rules/empty space

Tried to find a thread addressing this, basically I am making my first run with iAds and jsut need the pros know how. Basically just two things I would like to know:

*So it's a good idea to spawn and destroy the iAds, and how often should I do this?

*When an ad doesn't fill, it's my understanding that it is an empty space. So, can I fill this with my own "ad" by making a pic in photoshop (and what dimensions should it be, for landscape and portrait)? Also, do I need to create a rule to make it show if an ad doesn't show up? And how would this rule look?

Well after reading the resource section on iAds that helped....but I still would like to know how to deal with the empty space there will be if an ad does not show and how often I should spawn and destroy them. It would be a big help
