You can be as successful as you would anywhere. Its not the tool that chooses, its you. If you make a good app and it does well then you might be successful.
Hi, There are pros and cons in every software and program you will find. but the only thing EVER constricting you is your imagination: It is even possible to achieve 3D with this software if you have a bit of know how...

Personally I am not that great at this software, but a while a go i used to program for the Nintendo DS, using a strictly 2D program ONLY but by using various zoom in - zoom out and pixel shift methods I achieved pretty much 3D, reason I stopped was because the nintendo DS has TOO MANY restrictions in terms of memory ect.

Main reason to choose this over other iOS developing programs is because it is INSANELY EASY. Only reason I dont like this is because ive just converted from a PC and shortcuts ect take a while getting used to.

Just so as not to confuse: you can make pseudo 3D in GS; there are no true 3d capabilities.
It's a great entry point. If you don't have EA's resources and trained staff you probably won't make games like they do. However, if you want to start making games on your own without that kind of budget it's a great place to start. Especially when you think of the amount of time you save.
Those guys who posted above are right. You could make a game pretty similar to Angry Birds with GS, so the sky's the limit.

It's just a term, like mock 3D if you like, looking as close to 3D as possible without actually being it! Parallax scrolling can help, then there's stuff from Darren - and others - I seem to remember, where actors grow larger as they advance upon the player, collision detection used only when they are at a larger size, if you get my meaning; so looks like actors/monsters walking towards you in 3D space but...without 3D space.
For certain, there's nothing (and never will be, in my op.) in the GS game engine that can handle true 3D, like free-roaming 360° stuff, for instance. One thing in the Roadmap though, for interest, is 2D polygon collision detection, which is a "descendant" of 3D polygon collision detection.
Here are some top sellers if your curious. I will try to go in order for sales. 1- Grisly Manor- firemaplegames 2- Stunt squirrels- Firemaplegames 3- Danger Cats- Firemaplegames 4- Bumps- Utopian games 5- Red balls of goo- Utopiangames
There are also other games by other developers that were very well made games
Tshirtbooth's Zombie Drop got to number 3 in the mac appstore.
