Gamesalad Preview Choppy?

There is one player and one enemy in my game so far. Besides that, there is a ground for my characters to walk on and a white background. Why is the preview of this simple game showing the player moving in such a "choppy" manner? What am I doing wrong? The frame rate of the player animation runs the way I want it only after I start moving the character back and forth for a while. Is there somehow to fix this? I am running a MacBook Pro 10.6.7. Is that fast enough to get the preview working properly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What are the physic settings for the ground and player? Also, are you using gravity?

Are you previewing on the iPhone with the Viewer or are you Previewing it in the Creator?

Mac Book Pro should be fine, I have a Mac Book and don't have any problems with the preview in the creator. On my 3G iPhone, the viewer is slow, because the 3G is pretty horrible.

I had friction at 750 on the ground! Thank you for suggesting me to look at that! I appreciate it!

I am previewing it in the creator and I am still having some trouble. Is gravity of 600 too much?

Um, that depends on what you're hoping to accomplish. If you want your player to NOT be able to move upwards at all, then it's cool. However, 600 is kind of high.

I don't really use gravity too much, it's kind of processor heavy. You're better off using the Accelerate 270 degrees on each actor to act as gravity on the ones you want to be effected. (Gravity is literally just that, every actor has a "hidden" accelerate 270 degrees at X amount, 600 in your case).

If you ask me, turn down the gravity a bit.

Jumping is not a problem at all. The movements in the air are close to perfect. While I am grounded the frame rate of the run animation varies a lot. I have only three frames moving at 10 fps. Could it really be gravity which is causing the frame rate to be so inconsistent? Could it be anything else? How can I tell how efficiently the processor is working? Thanks

You can only tell the fps on the viewer when testing on your device. But, it's not perfect. It'll give you kind of a guesstimate of what the fps is.

Install the viewer and test it on a device to see if its still "perfect." The problem is that on an old 3G phone it might not be perfect, but on a 4G phone it'll be smooth. The trick is to get it smooth/perfect on all types of devices.

There is a viewer tutorial video on the GameSalad cookbook that'll show you what to do.
