Shall I make it a game or a template that is the question...

Good afternoon World...

So I've just put together a new game mechanic...no artwork, just the rules, attributes and physics setup for a decent game to grow from. With some similarities to a 80's/90's classic but with touch screen design.

It has taken 2 nights full work (its still amazing how quickly things can be achieved as you learn more of GameSalad). It works well and is designed cleanly for minimum processor use.

The question
Do I quickly wrap it up a bit and release it as a template and hope to slowly make a few bucks over the year. Then start on another template to build up the templates for sale on www.stormystudio.com

Or invest a couple of months or so building a full game experience around it and release it on the app store...

    Hey Stormy,
It really depends on what you're in it for,
If you're in it for the enjoyment of creating a game, release the engine and see how many different variations people make.
If you're in it for some revenue, and the engine seems addictive and fun, another couple of months of work and release it on the appstore.
Im sorry if this sounds a bit condescending, as you are a sous-chef and therefore know your stuff.
    Cheers

    Yo Stormy

Depends on what it is ???? Any clues to what it does?

More importantly is it FaceMelting? LOL

Really I struggle with this same question on a lot of things. I have trouble with artwork so its easier for me to release templates but I also really hate giving away my Game ideas so I have several Projects I have developed and held onto that seem to be going no where due to lack of artwork.

So what I think the question is. So you feel you would enjoy developing this further or is a cool thing you made but not something that interests you much more than it is right now. If not i'd offer it as a template but if you feel you are excited about taking it further keep it for your self.

Hope that helps. Maybe tell us what you've made and well give you advice that benefits us more than you? ;)

    LOL

    Later

    Cheers guys...

Think 'Lemmings' but designed ground up for a touch screen and you be in the right ball park.

I will tinker with it for a few more nights unless I get really into it I'll release it as a template. then finish off finishing off my website.

A Lemmings type of template would be soooo cool. I would buy it.
