App name reservation time frame

I know this topic has been beaten to death. But I searched and searched and wasn't able to find a recent post about what the time frame is for reserving an app name. Is it 90 days? 30 days? I'm starting to get nervous.

Are you allowed a beta binary and set the date for a year later? Then send the real binary closer to the date.
