So I haven't work on any games in two weeks, I think I lost all motivation.. I do work two other jobs and have a family.. Either been too
busy or too tired I think..

I think I need some secrets on motivation.
What keep you motivated, keeps you going?
Money, fame, fortune, what?

Thanks,
Steve

I don't really think there is a secret. For me, I just make sure to stay as focused on 1 game at a time as I can. Sure I start to come up with other ideas but I make a doodle and store it for later. Make sure you are making a game you are passionate about and just fight for your game! Because no one else will. haha

I don't think anyone would be speaking truthfully if they didn't have some hope in their mind that their next game could be the one that makes them tons of money but I don't think that is most peoples' main motivation.

For me, I just like to create. There is something intangible about being able to come up with ideas and see them come to life and then having working demos on my phone.

I remember the first time I paid for my developer account and sent a very early version of a game to my phone and the high I experienced from seeing something on my phone that I created was the greatest thing.

You also have to ask yourself what you want to get out of this. Some people are here just as a fun hobby that they might work on a night or two a week, while other are doing this full time 5 days a week.

Each type will have different motivating factors. If you don't have the will to keep working on your game or aren't excited about what you are creating, the end product might show it.

Dude - take it easy on yourself. Two jobs and a family is bound to make you tired!

When I was making Kraken last year, I was working full time as a freelancer - finishing at 6pm - getting home around 7:30pm - then, if I had the energy, working till about 5am.

Some nights though I'd come home and just do *nothing*.

That was with 1 job - two + a family? Well, the fact you're doing anything is impressive!

It'll come back to you, don't worry!

    QS :D

2 jobs and kids... Think on it like this. 'There is a game I can make, and most projects are made in the planning.' Now lie down, close your eye, relax, and plan. If you get to the point were you have something all planned out and are excited about it, the energy flows a little easier, and if not you have had some rest.

Truth is I wish I did more of what I say than how I actually act and that is work long hours born of fear and taxes...
