I know it looks hard, but do you think there is anything that it can't do with GS(after maybe years)

Well you could "fake" the 3D by using a gradient style slanted grid with 3D drawn actors. You could also use matte painted photos for the story full screen shots to create a similar effect.

But the maths/calculations would take the most time. It would be a huge game and at the moment GS servers struggle with games over +200MB but then I guess you could charge a decent price for it with Civilization prices at nearly 50 bucks!

I doubt GS achieve anything like this in it's life time, but that's not what it's designed for.

Seriously, making a 3d RTS in drag and drop? No thanks!

I don't think that it is a question of it being possible in GS, more questions of if you were capable of making a game like this yourself with any tool? would you ever have time to develop such a game? could you ever do it to a standard to make a market for yourself? etc

If you actually want to have a go, sit down with pen and paper and think for perhaps a year or so, making notes and looking at the competition, history of these types of game, and make yourself a plan for something that is scaled towards what you can do.

In truth I would not attempt it. It is too vast. Make the small and cool, build on your strengths as an indie, and have fun.

Prolly not. IMO don't try to force a square peg into a round hole. GS is good for a lot of different types of games, isometric and 3D are not it.

If you want to make a isometric view RTS game then you ought to look into 3D engines like Unity or Unreal.
