i have seen so much crap made with gamesalad, makes me think should i even bother making my games with this program?

reason i say this is because you could waste so many hours if not months making a highly detailed game and it can get lost in crap and people will automatically think "oh, its made with that gamesalad thing, F*** it!"

yes i know there is a pro version that removes the gs splash but not everyone i.e. me, can afford to purchase it at the moment.

I'm sure some people here will agree, so what can you suggest?
how do you divert your app from being lost in junk?
how do you brand gamesalad as a professional tool?

It's all in marketing. You gotta be creative. Hopefully your first game can make you enough to buy pro... thats what im shooting for.

If someone downloaded the game, they will probably make it past the splash screen.

If it's a good game, it doesn't matter. It's very easy to slap rubbish together in GS, for sure, but the only critical limitation I've encountered with the software itself are the long loading times (which you can ameliorate with this trick or that).

First - Make a unique and not a 100% clone of other games. You could use some ideas of other game but make sure you add spices and stuff that will make your game stand out.
Second - Provide a Good icon and screenshot that will definitely grabs the buyer attention when they see it in itunes. Remember you only got at least 5 secs to catch the buyers attention to using your icon and another 5 secs to your screenshot. "Most" buyers dont even bother on the description when they see a nice icon and screenshot.
Third - Make a user friendly Menu system (if your a gamer yourself you'll know why).
Last - Replayability. Theres a lot of stuff in this single word that you should explore and think carefully while your in the process of making your game.

There are a lot of posts here with the theme 'prove game salad is worth it. ' I'm starting to have the opinion 'prove you can make a game that can't be made with game salad and then judge this awesome community.'

a tool does not make you a good developer.

a good developer can work with any tool.

I like how BOT turned out...

...and I'm working on making it even better.

I think it depends on the project.

Does everything you post have to revolve around bot?

Fire maple games made The secret of grisly manor which made around $100,000 with the Gamesalad version and then he switched on over to corona. If you don't want to be associated with Gamesalad but still use the tool, buy the pro version and remove the Gamesalad splash screen. But the game being made with Gamesalad doesn't do harm. It's what you make of it.
