score counters causing lag

Hi guys. I have a weird bug i noticed in my game while using GS Viewer. I have multiple actors moving across screen at a consistant speed and I also have a score counter as well as a high score display. The score counter increases every 0.5 seconds. When the score = or > high score the game score is saved as an attribute "highscore". I am noticing that when my score hits the high score everything starts to lag or act jerky every 0.5 seconds as the score and high score increase. I have tried different time intervals but I get the same result. This only happens once the score is = to the previous high score. I assume because every 0.5 its saving the attribute over again.

Has anyone seen this and fixed it... Or have I not explained myself well lol
