There are some sites u apply for:
freeappaday.com
dailyappdream.com
greatappaday.com
freegameoftheday.com (I think u need openfeint though)
freeappreport.com though they know about most apps

I use AppShopper to watch for Apps that go FREE but I presume they use XML feeds from Apple.
